Rochelle Esterhuizen

Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology, Registered Clinical Counsellor (#25578)

I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) providing counselling services across British Columbia and Canada. I hold a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Sociology and a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology from the University of Victoria. I am currently completing a PhD in Counselling Psychology at the University of British Columbia.

For over a decade, my work has focused on supporting survivors of sexualized and domestic violence, as well as first responders and front-line workers struggling with job-related trauma. I also work with individuals living with PTSD and substance use challenges as well as folks struggling with complex trauma from adverse childhood experiences.

I strive to create a collaborative, compassion-centred space where healing is possible, growth and change are supported, and people feel genuinely seen and heard.

My work in the mental health field has shown me that connection is often the basis for healing. I approach therapy from a trauma-informed, client-centred perspective, always prioritizing your autonomy and lived experience.

I draw on evidence-based approaches, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), and narrative therapy. My practice is also influenced by attachment theory and a strong belief in the importance of relational connection to create insight and change. Fundamentally, my approach is integrative, compassion-focused, and tailored to your needs and goals.

As a registered clinical counsellor (RCC), I work with adults (18+) as well as first responders and front-line workers who are struggling with job-related mental health issues. I offer online therapy throughout B.C. and in-person therapy in Victoria and surrounding areas.
