Rochelle Esterhuizen
Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology, Registered Clinical Counsellor (#25578)
I am a Canadian Certified Counsellor (CCC) and Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC), providing individual and couples counselling across British Columbia and Canada. I hold a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Sociology and a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology from the University of Victoria. I am currently pursuing a PhD in Counselling Psychology.
For over a decade, my work has focused on supporting survivors of sexualized and domestic violence, as well as first responders coping with job-related trauma. I also work extensively with individuals living with PTSD and substance use challenges, including those navigating complex trauma. These experiences, combined with my academic training, shape a practice that is trauma-informed, evidence-based, and grounded in compassion.
I strive to create a collaborative, affirming, and attuned space where healing is possible, growth is supported, and people feel genuinely seen and heard.
My work in the mental health field has shown me that connection is often the basis for healing. I approach therapy from a trauma-informed, client-centred perspective, always prioritizing your safety, autonomy, and lived experience.
I draw on evidence-based approaches, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), and narrative therapy. My practice is also influenced by attachment theory and a strong belief in the power of relational connection to foster meaningful change. Fundamentally, my approach is integrative, compassion-focused, and tailored to your unique needs and goals.
As a registered clinical counsellor (RCC), I work with adults (18+), as well as first responders who are struggling with job-related mental health issues. I offer online therapy throughout B.C. and in-person therapy in Victoria and surrounding areas.
